Day 1– From Naples to Sorrento
After landing of your flight, meet your private English speaking driver who will accompany you directly at your hotel in Sorrento: Grand Hotel Riviera 4****L. We will reserve for you 1 double Superior room. Check in and rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2– Private tour of the Amalfi Coast– 7 hours
After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your personal English speaking driver for a full day tour along the Amalfi Coast. He will drive you to the enchanting rout of the “Divine Coast”: along the way, you will have stops for panoramic viewpoint to make some breathtaking pictures. Then, you will have free time to discover and relax on the top of Positano, a small village with Mediterranean styled pure white houses with bougainvillea plants that cover part of the facades. On the way to Amalfi, you will visit a Ceramic shop in Conca dei Marini. At the end of your visit, your driver will bring you to the nearby Amalfi, one of the oldest maritime republics. Here, you will have free time for lunch, at one of the many traditional restaurant s surrounded by typically southern Italian sceneries.
After lunch, free time to wander through the labyrinthine streets and admire the magnificent and imposing facade of the cathedral of Saint Andrea with her unique Arab Norman and Romanesque Style. Later, your driver will escort you back to your hotel in Sorrento. Rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Sorrento.
Day 3– Sorrento free day
After breakfast at your hotel free day at leisure to enjoy the city of Sorrento.
Day 4– Sorrento/Bari/Poilgnano a Mare
Breakfast and check out at your hotel in Sorrento. Meet your private English speaking driver at your hotel in Sorrento and transfer to Bari Airport, to pick up your car. You are ready to drive to your luxury Resort: Borgo Bianco Resort & Spa 5*****. We will reserve for you 1 Double deluxe room. Check in and time at your leisure.
Day 5– Free day
After breakfast at your hotel, you will have the free day at your leisure.
Day 6– Polignano a Mare/Alberobello, Ostuni & oil tasting experience with lunch
After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your private English speaking guide at the hotel and driver to Alberobello and enjoy a walking tour of the city. You will discover the town of Alberobello, famous for its unique Trulli constructions. Alberobello is the world capital of Trulli and UNESCO World Heritage Site. A Trullo is a traditional Apulian dry-stone hut with a conical roof. Their style of construction is specific to the Itria Valley, in the Murge area of Apulia. Your guide will let you discover all the secrets and legends of those fascinating typical Apulian buildings, learn the meaning of decorative symbols on cones. Here, you will find Trulli of different sizes in various shades of gray and will be able to get a closer look at stone construction of these houses. You will discover when and why the trulli were first built and how they have become the unique symbol of the Itria Valley. The tour will continue in the Rione Monti district, made lively and colorful by the presence of many shops. Here are more picturesque groups of Trulli, among which you will be able to spot a unique one - Chiesa a trullo di Sant’Antonio, the only Trullo church.
At the end of the tour you will reach Masseria il Frantoio, for an oil tasting experience and a delicious light lunch.
After lunch, together with your personal guide, you will drive to Ostuni, a splendid city 8 km from the Adriatic coast. Its Old Town is a citadel built on top of a hill and still fortified by the ancient walls. Ostuni is regarded as an architectural jewel, and is commonly referred to as "the White City" ("La Città Bianca", in Italian) for its white walls, striking alleys, and its typically white-painted architecture. At the end of your tour drive back to your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 7– Alberobello/Poligano a Mare/Lecce
Breakfast at your hotel and check out.
After breakfast you can visit this small town at leisure. A striking town located on the Adriatic Sea. Native city of the world known first Italian songwriter Domenico Modugno for his international hit song "Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volare)”. Its Old Town is on cliffs overlooking the sea, where balconies and flowered tiny streets offer a truly poetic and emotional scenery. The area was settled since prehistoric times and remains of the Roman domination include the bridge on the Via Traiana. Polignano was awarded the Blue Flag, certification by the FEE, for its high environmental and water quality standards. Lunch at leisure. After lunch drive to your hotel in the center of the beautiful Lecce: Hotel Torre del Parco – Dimora Storica 1419 4****. We will reserve for you 1 Double superior room. Check-in and rest of the day to relax.
Day 8– Lecce – guided walking tour of the historical center – 3 hours
After breakfast meet your private English speaking guide at your hotel. Today you will visit the historical center of Lecce and discover the history and art of the Florence of Southern Italy.
You will discover a city that since the Renaissance is literally covered with art. It is the religious fervor of the counterreformation to transform the face of Lecce, the seat of the most powerful religious orders who engage generations of stonemasons for centuries to glorify themselves and the Church triumphant through redundant architecture and excessive authentic ephemeral glory.
You will admire Piazza del Duomo: imposing as a fortress but decorated like an embroidery thanks to the warm colors of the famous local stone. The square form an authentic backdrop born to amaze the visitor where the eye is deceived by an abundant decoration. In the same square there are the majestic facades of the Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palce and the seminary and in the end the high bell tower which dominates all, the square and the city. Continue to the Church of St. Irene first patron of Lecce to arrive in Piazza Sant’Oronzo ancient heart of the city center, gutted in ’900 to unearth a Roman amphitheater dating from the second century BC of the few traces of Roman Lupiae. Continuing the walk in the old town you will reach the Church of San Matteo Baroque shapes but still full of innovative solutions. After seeing the Roman theater, the tour continues with a visit to the castle to finally arrive to admire the Basilica of Santa Croce masterpiece and symbol of the Lecce-baroque, built in about 150 years during the Spanish domination. After the tour spend the rest of the day at your own disposal.
Day 9– Lecce/Otranto & Gallipoli – 9 hours approx
Breakfast at your hotel. Meet your private guide and start an interesting excursion exploring the Salento.
Drive to Otranto, where you will know its Greek, Roman, and Byzantine history and see the major a
ttractions of the city with your private English speaking guide. Marvel at the Norman cathedral with its mosaic floor, see the bones of the Martyrs of Otranto, and more. Described as the “Gateway to the East” and the most Oriental of all Italy’s cities, Otranto was founded by Greeks from Crete thousands of years ago.
Discover the Norman cathedral, consecrated in 1088 and still the largest Romanesque building in Apulia. Admire the mosaic floor, formed of thousands of pieces of stone that depict scenes from the Old Testament and figures from Breton legends. Admire columns that are said to have come from a Temple of Minerva, and the bones and relics of the Martyrs of Otranto, who perished in the 15th-century siege of the city. Marvel at the 42 marble columns that support the crypt, and more.
Continue to the Church of St. Peter and the Aragonese Castle, reinforced by Emperor Frederick II and rebuilt by Alphonso II of Naples in 1485-1498. Look at the irregular plan of 5 sides, with a moat that runs along the entire perimeter.
Day 10- Departure
After breakfast and check out drive to Brindisi airport (30 minute drive approx.) to drop off your car and take your flight to Rome. At Roma Fiumicino Airport, meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your centrally located hotel: Hotel Fortyseven 4****. we will reserve for you 1 Double executive room. Check in and lunch at leisure.
In the afternoon you will meet your private English speaking guide and get ready for an amazing walking tour. It will combine Rome highlights and food tasting according also to client’s taste and availability of shops open: you will start with an excellent coffee, a selection of salami, the best mozzarella and burrata, the famous Jewish style artychoke, the super suppli (Roman rise balls) and last but not the least Roman style pasta, like cacio e pepe or matriciana. Together with your guide, you will admire the beautiful fountains and street markets, outstanding palaces and little boutiques of artisan traditional Italian food, unique architectures while smelling the fresh baked white pizza, gorgeous paintings of famous artists located inside Churches that only Rome offers, and the best Gelato! While tasting the typical Roman specialties, you will learn about the culinary traditions walking through some beautiful famous piazzas and some out of track charming districts, less known but not less important, discovering why food plays such a great role in Italy. For wine lovers we can combine also a wine tasting!! End of the tour and rest of the evening at your leisure.
Day 11- Rome Departure
After breakfast and check out at your hotel in Rome meet your personal English speaking driver for a direct transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport for your flight back home.
