Your personal guide will lead you through the market that historically enjoyed great fame as the cradle around which the entire merchant civilization of the lagoon was developed. With our expert guide, who will conduct you from the "Rialto" vaporetto (waterbus) stop to the one of"San Basilio", you will be able to relive the history of one of the most prolific basins in the Adriatic.
The unique tranquility of Campo San Giacomo will captivate you. Far from the chaos of daily life this square is enjoyed by locals, often occupying benches as they watch children play. Before continuing our guide will be glad to suggest a typical and characteristic restaurant that has been in the same family for almost a century: here you will enjoy a delicious lunch of local delicacies.
After lunch you will visit what is known as one of the most beautiful churches in the city: the Chiesa dei Frari. The church is situated in Campo dei Frari, and is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.As your walk continues you will discover unexpected hidden courtyards, wide open squares and old churches rich in history and mysterious legends. And finally, you will admire the "Fondamenta delle Zattere" facing the Giudecca Canal, one of the principle canals that flows into Saint Mark's basin. This view has become the famous backdrop scene of many significant works of art from Molino Stucky to the masterpieces of Palladio.Entranced by so much beauty, you will return home culturally enriched and fulfilled.NB: transfers to and from your accommodation can be arranged upon request.
