The historical significance of Rome is not only that which dates back to ancient times - Romans, gladiators and emperors - but also that of inhabited Rome. The history which you breathe and taste within the symbolic neighborhoods of the capital: Trastevere and the Jewish Ghetto.

You will depart with your personal guide from Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere: one of the most famous historic "piazze" in Rome (transfer can be arranged). From here you will visit the enchanting Basilica that gives its name to the piazza, continuing on to the Church of Santa Cecilia. Afterwards you will be free to "lose yourself" in the wonderful narrow streets in Travestere, the Vicoli Trasteverini (narrow streets in Trastevere), on a walk that will lead you to Piazza Trilussa and then on to the old Porta Settimiana.

For lunch, Dragonfly Tours has organized a typically "Roman" eating experience while exploring the streets of this beautiful city. Enjoy sliced pizza and "supplì" (a ball of rice stuffed with tomato meat sauce - one of the many gastronomical symbols of the city) prepared at the most famous pizzeria "al taglio" among the hundreds that you will see on your journey...

Afterwards, you will head to a neighborhood that was once a city within the city: the Jewish Ghetto, the oldest in the world after the one in Venice. Here you will walk along the Porticus Octaviae, San Gregorio alla Divina Pietà, Piazza delle Cinque Scole, Piazza Giudea, via della Reginella and Piazza Mattei. It won't be difficult for you to understand why this area - fascinating and full of oddities - has always inspired film directors and screenwriters as the setting for their movies, many of which have become cult films: Elio Petri's "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion" and Ferzan Ozpetek's "Facing Windows" , just to name a couple.

Finally, you receive a guided tour of the interior of the local Synagogue, the conclusion to a fascinating and stimulating day in one of the world's most incredible cities.

What more can we add? After a day like today, Rome will fascinate you more than ever!
