Day 1 – Rome arrival
Upon arrival in Rome (rail station or International airport) transfer at your care to your hotel FortySeven Hotel 4****L . Check in and rest of the day at your leisure . Overnight in Rome.
Day 2 - Rome – Jewish Ghetto
Meet your private English speaking driver in the lobby of your hotel. You will head to a neighborhood that was once a city within the city: the Jewish ghetto, the oldest in the world after the one in Venice. Here you will walk along the Porticus Octaviae, Piazza Giudea and Piazza Mattei. Finally, you receive a guided tour of the interior of the local Synagogue, the conclusion to a fascinating and stimulating day in one of the world’s most incredible cities. A nice lunch in a typical local restaurant will complete the day tour. Transfer back to your hotel by private car and English speaking driver and rest of the day at your leisure . Overnight in Rome.
Day 3 – Rome / Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana Tivoli
Meet your private English speaking driver and guide at the lobby and reach the ancient town of Tivoli, which boasts being older than Rome. Locals would call this tour "a trip outside the gates". Here, you will visit Villa d’ Este, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fine example of Renaissance architecture and the Italian Renaissance garden. With its impressive number of fountains, nymphs, grottos, waterworks and music, many of which have been emulated in gardens throughout Europe, the garden is considered exceptional in terms of landscape, artistic and historic value. Lunch will be at a characteristic restaurant in Tivoli. After lunch you will re-join your guide for visit at Villa Adriana. The Emperor Hadrian built this country villa for himself and his court, and it bears unique testimony to the grandeur and architectural and decorative characteristics of the period. The grounds also contain the "Teatro Marittimo", an artificial island which was a private residence of the Emperor Excavations, still in course, have brought to light an intricate system of roads which lead to the imperial residence. End of visit and transfer back to Rome, at your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 4 – Rome / Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel
Meet your personal English speaking driver and guide in the lobby of your hotel and transfer to the Vatican Museum to enjoy the visit mainly at the Sistine Chapel. Your specialist guide introduces you to the masterpieces of such great painters as Raffaello, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. This is one of the greatest collections of art in the world, a collection gathered over the centuries by the Popes of the Catholic Church. You will be enthralled and enchanted by the stunning vision of the Sistine Chapel and of the Sala degli Arazzi (Room of the Tapestries), the Cortile della Pigna (Court of the Pinecone), with final direct access into Saint Peter's Basilica. End of the tour and transfer back to your hotel. Rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 5 – Rome / Herculaneum
Today you will reach Herculaneum by private car and English speaking driver. At the excavations meet with your private English speaking guide for the visit. Born in the archaic age and initially inhabited by an indigenous settlement, the city was later exposed to Samnitic, Greek, and Etruscan influences, up to the predominance of Roman civilization. Situated on a volcanic plateau, sheer over the sea, Herculaneum like the other cities of Vesuvius was submerged by the eruption of Vesuvius in 70 A.D., which buried it beneath a layer of debris measuring up to twenty-three metres in height. Before proceeding on the way back to Rome the driver will stop for lunch at your care in a suggested place. Back to Rome, at your hotel . Rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 6 - Rome
Meet your private English speaking driver at your hotel for a direct transfer to Trastevere where you will meet you private guide at Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere: one of the most famous historic "piazze“ in Rome. From here you will visit the enchanting Basilica that gives its name to the piazza, continuing on to the Church of Santa Cecilia. You will be free to “lose yourself” in the wonderful narrow streets in Travestere, the Vicoli Trasteverini , on a walk heading to Piazza Trilussa and then on to the old Porta Settimiana. Free time for lunch on your own in a characteristic restaurant of this area. Rest of the day at your leisure . Overnight in Rome.
Day 7 - Rome
Breakfast and check out of the hotel. Your private English speaking driver with a private car, will transfer you to Fiumicino airport for your flight back home.
