Day 1 - Bari/Hotel in Bari
After your arrival at Bari Airport meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your hotel in Bari. Check in at VOI Hotel Oriente Bari 4****. Day 2 - Bari/Polignano
After breakfast and check out at your hotel in Bari, you will pick up your car rental (not included in this quote) and drive to your next destination: Borgo Bianco Resort and Spa 5***** in Polignano . The 5 Star Resort is situated in the typical Puglia countryside just outside the picturesque coastal town of Polignano a Mare, perched on top of a rocky promontory. Day 3 - Polignano
After your breakfast at the hotel you will be picked up for a ride to Andria for you Half day guided Tour – about 1 hour drive from Polignano You will visit the medieval castle "Castel del Monte“ that proudly overlooks the town of Andria from a hilltop at an altitude of 540m. Castel del Monte was built by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in the 13th century. The caste is built in an octagonal shape, with each of the eight corners sporting an octagonal tower. This makes the geometric design of this fortress (Frederick II built many castles in Apulia) unique, certainly at that time. It was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996, and it is one of the best preserved medieval castles. Walk along the winding roads of the historical center and visit the cathedral and the Swabian castle. Finish of the tour near cafes and shops by the harbor. You'll take a stroll in the historical center. Day 4 - Polignano/Matera
After breakfast and check out you will drive to Matera and reach your hotel in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Matera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, best known for the Sassi di Matera, an ancient city with houses that have been excavated in the rock and that have been lived in since the Paleolithic Era. Rupestrian churches, houses, caves, and ancient streets create a unique and suggestive landscape, where Mel Gibson chose to shoot the film, The Passion of the Christ . Day 5 - Matera – Half day guided Tour
You will discover an outstanding example of a rock-cut settlement perfectly adapted to the terrain and eco system. Located in historic Matera, the Sassi provide a glimpse into the ancient people of a region that has been inhabited since Palaeolithic times. Meet your guide at Piazza Vittorio Veneto for views of the Sasso Barisano, home to an underground church dedicated to the Apostle Peter. Continue to view the impressive façade of Matera Cathedral, a Romanesque building embellished by a beautiful rose window. From the top of Civita, the medieval part of town that is surrounded by tall bastions and aristocratic buildings, the tour takes you down to the Sasso Caveoso, another rock church dedicated to the Apostle Peter. Follow a scenic route, winding around stairways, squares, and alleys that often run along rooftops. Stop at Casa Grotta, where a small museum is dedicated to the farming population of the Matera region. Day 6 - Half day guided Tour of Alberobello
After your breakfast, you will meet your private English speaking guide for an h/dTour of Alberobello. On this walking tour you will discover the origins and features of the Trulli which were built centuries ago in this valley, yet can be found nowhere else on Earth. You will visit the residential district of Aia Piccola, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the heart of the city of the trulli. Here you will find Trulli of different sizes in various shades of gray and will be able to get a closer look at stone construction of these houses. You will discover when and why the trulli were first built and how they have become the unique symbol of the Itria Valley. The tour will continue in the Rione Monti district, made lively and colorful by the presence of many shops. Here are more picturesque groups of Trulli, among which you will be able to spot a unique one - Chiesa a trullo di Sant’Antonio, the only Trullo church. After the tour you will drive to Ostuni. Day 7 - Half day guided Tour of Ostuni

In Ostuni, your guide will walk you through the town’s narrow alleyways, so you can admire the flowers that adorn the old balconies and enjoy the views that stretch out from the terraces. Following the walls' circular structure built in the XIV century, narrow streets, arches and stairways join Ostuni's tiny dwellings to the highest point of the town’s medieval settlement, where a castle was located. Day 8 - Ostuni/ Lecce

Day 9 - Half day guided Tour of Lecce.
After breakfast meet your private English speaking guide at your hotel. Today you will visit the historical center of Lecce and discover the history and art of the Florence of Southern Italy. You will enter in Lecce through the monumental door Porta Napoli, discovering a city that since the Renaissance, literally covered with art. It is the religious fervor of the counterreformation to transform the face of Lecce, the seat of the most powerful religious orders who engage generations of stonemasons for centuries to glorify themselves and the Church triumphant through redundant architecture and excessive authentic ephemeral glory. Arriving at Piazza del Duomo: imposing as a fortress but decorated like an embroidery thanks to the warm colors of the famous local stone.
The square form an authentic backdrop born to amaze the visitor where the eye is deceived by an abundant decoration. In the same square there are the majestic facades of the Cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace and the seminary and in the end the high bell tower which dominates all, the square and the city. Continue to the Church of St. Irene first patron of Lecce to arrive in Piazza Sant’Oronzo ancient heart of the city center, gutted in ’900 to unearth a Roman amphitheater dating from the second century BC of the few traces of Roman Lupiae. Continuing the walk in the old town you will reach the Church of San Matteo Baroque shapes but still full of innovative solutions. After seeing the Roman theater, the tour continues with a visit to the castle to finally arrive to admire the Basilica of Santa Croce masterpiece and symbol of the Lecce-baroque, built in about 150 years during the Spanish domination to celebrate the victory of the Battle of Lepanto . Day 11 - Lecce/Otranto 1 H/D guided tour of OTRANTO(about 40 minutes drive from Lecce)
Explore the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine history of Otranto and see the major attractions of the “Gateway to the East.” with your private English speaking guide. Marvel at the Norman cathedral with its mosaic floor, see the bones of the Martyrs of Otranto, and more. Described as the “Gateway to the East” and the most Oriental of all Italy’s cities, Otranto was founded by Greeks from Crete thousands of years ago. Discover the Norman cathedral, consecrated in 1088 and still the largest Romanesque building in Apulia.
Admire the mosaic floor, formed of thousands of pieces of stone that depict scenes from the Old Testament and figures from Breton legends. Admire columns that are said to have come from a Temple of Minerva, and the bones and relics of the Martyrs of Otranto, who perished in the 15th-century siege of the city. Marvel at the 42 marble columns that support the crypt, and more. Continue to the Church of St. Peter and the Aragonese Castle, reinforced by Emperor Frederick II and rebuilt by Alphonso II of Naples in 1485-1498. Look at the irregular plan of 5 sides, with a moat that runs along the entire perimeter. Enjoy the panoramic views out to sea. Day 13 - Brindisi/Departure
