Day 1– Rome: Arrival
Landing of your flight at Rome Fiumicino airport. Meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your boutique hotel: Hotel Degli Artisti 4****. We will reserve for you: 1 Double Superior room. Check in at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2– Rome, Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel
Meet your private English-speaking guide and driver in the lobby of your hotel for transfer to the world’s smallest state. Here tour through one of the world’s most cherished art collections. The treasure trove you see today originated over five hundred years ago, as a result of the humanist popes’ passion for accumulating and commissioning artworks. Nestled among several marvels lies the world-famous Sistine chapel. You will be thrilled to find yourself at the core of the Christian world as you admire Michelangelo’s stunning frescoes among which are two of his most well-loved masterpieces: the Last Judgement and the Creation of Adam. Finally the guided tour will lead you to St. Peter’s Basilica, where the impact of Michelangelo’s Pietà cannot fail to move and the colossal dome to impress every visitor to the heart of the Roman Catholic Church. After the visit, free time at your leisure.
Day 3–Ancient Rome guided tour
After breakfast meet your English speaking driver at the lobby for direct transfer to the Ancient part of the Eternal city: Colosseum and Imperial Fora.
With direct access to this remarkable landmark and no waiting in long lines; you will be awestruck even before entering. Once inside, your personal guide will bring to life the ancient world of the various emperors, noblemen, aristocrats, gladiators and wild beasts that once populated this building.
At the end of the tour lunch will be served in a really nice restaurant with a stunning view of the Colosseum.
After lunch you will be free to enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 4– Rome To Florence
Meet your private English speaking driver for a transfer to the Railway Station where you will get an high speed train and arrive in Florence in about 1 hour and half. Here, you will meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your hotel: Hotel Degli Orafi 4****. We will reserve for you 1 Double classic Room. Check in and rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 5– Florence: Walking Tour with Food Tour & Accademia Gallery
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your private English speaking guide and start a walking guided tour of Florence. You will have the opportunity to observe up close the priceless Dome (Duomo) by Brunelleschi, the largest brick dome in the world, stretching protectively over the Florence Cathedral. You will also see its splendid bell tower: the famous Campanile of Giotto. Next stop will be the political center of the city that will open its doors, offering you the chance to visit the Palazzo della Signoria, seat of the secularists' power with the Palazzo Vecchio, seat of the municipality, as well as the oldest "piazza" (square) in Florence, Piazza della Repubblica, surrounded today, by historic cultural cafès, where young intellectual Florentines like to gather. Your walking will leads you to the nearby San Lorenzo Market, where you will have a taste of Tuscany’s “green gold”, its renowned olive oil, as well as a variety of cheese, salami and prosciutto, truffle sauces and oil and balsamic vinegar. You will have also wine tasting where you will enjoy some of the region’s finest wines. Not full yet? Next stop will be at a local “fiaschetteria” where you will have a tasting of some of the city’s traditional recipes. The tour will finish in grand style with one of the finest gelato parlors of the city where you can pick your flavor made with genuine and fresh products. After this culinary experience, you will be ready to discover the Accademia Gallery Museum where the more symbolic work of Michelangelo is housed: Il David, an expression of beauty and physical perfection. It also has other sculptures by Michelangelo and a collection of Renaissance paintings: you will admire also the “Il Ratto delle Sabine” by Giambologna (The Rape of the Sabine Women), as well as “La Madonna ed il Bambino” (Madonna and Child) and “la Madonna del Mare” (Madonna of the Sea) by Botticelli. At the end of the tour, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 6– Florence: Siena & San Gimignano
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your private English speaking driver and discover the Tuscan towns of Siena and San Gimignano. Upon arrival in Siena, you will meet your private English speaking guide who will accompany you for a pleasant walking tour of the city. You will discover the Magnificent Piazza del Campo where twice a year (2 July and 16 August) an event, that every citizen of Siena looks forward to , takes place: the Palio di Siena. You will learn about the history of the Contrade (ancient Sienese name for neighborhood) and visit the famous Cathedral of Siena, that houses some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. At the end of the tour, you will reach your restaurant in Siena, where you will sample a menu carefully selected by the chef and comprising several courses made with the freshest traditional ingredients.
After lunch, meet again your private English speaking driver and together you will reach San Gimignano, the Medieval village that has been declared a World Heritage Site. Even with its 19th and 20th century renovations, its 13th and 14th century appearance has remained intact and is one of the finest examples of town organization in all of Europe. The main attraction of San Gimignano is the 16 Medieval Towers that still stand today. The oldest is the Torre Rognosa, 51 meters high, while the tallest is the Torre del Podestà, also known as the Torre Grossa (Big Tower), standing 54 meters. In AD 1255 a law was passed that prohibited the building of any tower to superceide the height of the Torre Rognosa (which was the tallest at that time), while the two most important families – Ardinghelli and Salvucci - in order to demonstrate their power, had two towers built just 50 cm under the 54 meter limit. Together with your personal English speaking guide, you will walk in the city and discover the unknown corners of the town. End of the tour, your driver will accompany you back to your hotel in Florence. Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 7– Florence: Departure
Breakfast and check out at your hotel, meet your private English speaking driver and direct transfer to the Airport in Florence for your flight back home.
