Itinerary of the 10 days Rome to Tuscany and Umbria Tour:
Day 1 – Rome: Arrival
Upon arrival of your flight at Fiumicino airport, you will meet your private English speaking driver and direct transfer to your centrally located hotel in Rome: Hotel Trevi Collection 4****. Check in and rest of the day at your own leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 2– Rome: Colosseum and Roman Forum
Breakfast at the hotel, meet your private English speaking guide at the lobby of your hotel and together you will reach the Ancient part of the Eternal city: Colosseum and Roman Forum. With direct access to this remarkable landmark and no waiting in long lines, you will be awestruck even before entering. Once inside, your personal guide will bring to life the ancient world of the various emperors, noblemen, aristocrats, gladiators and wild beasts that once populated this building. You will be accompanied to the nearby Roman Forum, known as the "heart" of ancient Rome, and the commercial, political and religious center. End of this visit, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 3 - Rome: Vatican Museums
After breakfast at your hotel, meet your private English speaking guide and reach the Vatican Museum. There are no queues and no waiting as your specialist guide introduces you to the masterpieces of such great painters as Raffaello and Michelangelo. This is one of the greatest collections of art in the world, a collection gathered over the centuries by the Popes of the Catholic Church. You will be enthralled and enchanted by the stunning vision of the Sistine Chapel and also continuing on to the Cortile della Pigna ( "Court of the Pinecone" ) and the celebrated Raphael’s rooms, and finally direct access into Saint Peter's Basilica. At the end of this visit, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
Day 4 – Rome / Colle Val D’Elsa and visit of Siena
After breakfast and check out at the hotel, meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your next tour destination from Rome to Tuscany: Colle Val D’Elsa, at your hotel Relais de la Rovere 4****. Along the way, you will stop in one of Tuscany’s most famous town, Siena. Here, you will meet your private English speaking guide who will take you through the Magnificent streets, squares and through several Medieval churches, where you can soak up the unique atmosphere. You will discover the Magnificent Piazza del Campo where , twice a year (2 July and 16 August) an event, that every citizen of Siena looks forward to, takes place: the Palio di Siena. You will learn about the history of the Contrade (ancient Sienese name for neighborhood), visit the famous Duomo and other monuments of this lovely city. At the end of the tour, your driver will transfer you back to your hotel Relais de La Rovere. Check in and time to rest. Overnight in Colle Val d’Elsa. The Relais de La Rovere welcomes guests to a sophisticated, exclusive ambience with all the warmth of a typical family-run hotel. A result of the careful restoration of an ancient Benedictine abbey and a Renaissance-era Papal villa. It is surrounded by an ancient park, luxuriant in vegetation typical of the Tuscan maquis, with a travertine swimming pool equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. The restaurant and wine cellar, Il Cardinale, is located in the cellars of the villa and serves traditional Tuscan cuisine with a wide selection of Italian wines.
Day 5 - Colle Val d’Elsa: Florence
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to Florence. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your private English speaking guide for a walking tour of the city (Duomo and Ponte Vecchio) and the inside visit at the Uffizi Gallery. The Gallery houses a superb collection of priceless art, originating in great part from the Medici family collection, enriched over the centuries by endowments, exchanges and donations, among which an important group of religious works stands out, resulting from the suppression of the monasteries and convents between the XVIII and XIX centuries. Here, you will find the richest collection in the world of works of the Tuscan school, Florentine in particular, among which: Cimabue, Michelangelo, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello. Without parallel is the collection of works by Sandro Botticelli. End of tour and re-join the driver for a transfer back to your Hotel. Lunch and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Colle Val d’Elsa.
Day 6 - Colle Val D’elsa: Free day
After a gourmet breakfast of homemade pastries, jams, cheeses and fresh milk, you will have the day at your leisure to discover the surroundings on your own and relax in the swimming pool of your hotel. Overnight in Colle Val d’Elsa.
Day 7 - Colle Val d’Elsa / Perugia
Breakfast and check out at your hotel. Meet your private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to your next destination: Perugia. In about 2hours, you will reach your hotel: Brufani Palace 5*****. Check-in at the hotel and free time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can visit on your own the Moretti Caselli Studio. It is located in an old residence that once belonged to the Baglioni family of Perugia. Its walls echo the history of the town and the interests of the artists reverberate through the stained-glass windows, sketches, drawings, old objects, antiques and photographs that can be found here. The building itself dates back to the 15th century and it originally belonged to Guido Baglioni, a member of the most important Perugian family of the time that contended against the Pope for power over the town. Inside, you can admire the numerous photographs, sketches and Cartoons (some of which are quite large) of the stained-glass windows that have been created here throughout the years. The artistic objects attest to the owners’ love for antiques as well as their many cultural interests such as music and photography. In the quarters which house the workshop itself, you can see the tools, kilns and colours that to this day give life to magnificent enamelled glass windows just as they did in the past and enjoy a guided visit. It is not a Museum, but a place where you can breathe the atmosphere of an old handicraft that has been handed over for five generations. End of the visit and rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Perugia. Situated in a panoramic location in the heart of medieval Perugia, the hotel boasts an ancient tradition of hospitality. Day 8 - Perugia: walking tour
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your private English speaking guide at your hotel and enjoy a walking tour of the city. Perugia is the capital city of the region of Umbria in central Italy. It covers a high hilltop and part of the valleys around the area. Together with your guide, you will walk along its ring of wall dating from the Etruscan age, get lost through the symbols carved by Nicola and Giovanni Pisano's into the Fontana Maggiore and get fascinated by the many historical layers of the Rocca Paolina (known as Perugia underground). But this would be just a small taste of this spectacular medieval city. Every ancient gate, alley, piazza, palazzo and church will capture your imagination; and every museum and gallery will impress you with a sense of history, culture and art. At the end of the tour, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure to stroll around or just relax in the beautiful SPA of your hotel. Overnight in Perugia.
Day 9 - Perugia / Orvieto / Rome
Breakfast and check out at the hotel. Meet you private English speaking driver for a direct transfer to Orvieto, an old city situated on the flat summit of a large butte of volcanic turf, famous for its Duomo and its strong Etruscan identity, traceable to the nearby necropolis and town museums. You will meet here your personal English speaking guide and together will explore the magnificent monuments and buildings for which this incredible city is famous. At the end of the tour, you will have free time for lunch and after lunch, your driver will be ready to transfer you to Rome, at your hotel Spagna Royal Suite 4**** .Check-in at the hotel and rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.
