As soon as you disembark from the ship, your personal driver will accompany you to the "Castelli Romani", an area famous for its history and magnificent vineyards where the finest wine is made, exported and prized throughout the world. You will visit the village of Nemi (which so astonished Lord Byron with its beauty, that he mentions it in "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage") and you will pass through Grottaferrata and Frascati, towns in the area famous for their historic, cultural, and gastronomic traditions. You will also pass by Castel Gandolfo, the summer residence of the Pope.

You will then arrive at a wine cellar at one of the most unique estates in the world, which rises above one of the ancient dwellings of the Emperor Trajan. Here you will sample four types of wine originating in this area, and then be expertly guided by a skilled sommelier through the cellars beneath the farm house, located in this ancient grotto. The aging wines are guaranteed a balanced level of humidity at a natural 15°C, and you can see an ancient tabernacle dating back to 300 B.C. Antonio, the owner, will delight you with the history of this fascinating place, and the famous vines, including Malvasia del Lazio, Grechetto Antico and Chardonnay for the white wines and Pinot Nero, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah for the reds. The tasting will end with a sampling of the characteristic "ciambelline" of the Castelli Romani to go with your grappa and straw wine. The day will conclude with a leisurely return to your ship with your personal driver.
