Day n. 3 - Montalcino and Montepulciano

After breakfast, get ready for a splendid day: you will discover Montepulciano and Montalcino. You will be chauffeured in luxury car from the magnificent medieval village of Montepulciano and taken to one of the most famous wineries in the region, home to the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (meticulously produced with 100% Sangiovese grapes: those that the Tuscans define as “the true table wine”). Here, you will be able to visit the historic cellars that dates back to the 16th century and visiting them is like stepping back time. The brick passageways contain a series of vaults and niches where the barrels are placed. Inside the Historic Cellar, there are huge oak barrels where Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is aged for two years and three years for the Vino Nobile Riserva. After the visit, you will taste the wines, guided by an expert wine steward and accompanied by a variety of delicious local delicacies including local products, coldcuts and aged Pecorino from Pienza. The day tour continues to another marvelous village: Montalcino. Here you will enjoy a wine, the first one in Italy, run by an entire female staff, producing one of the best Brunello di Montalcino of the area. Enjoy a visit of the winery, which we hope will leave you with lasting memories of this day and the flavors that have tantalized your palate, and, of course have a wine tasting with their marvelous wines, including the renowned Brunello Riserva. A light lunch with the delicious and typical Tuscan dishes wil complete the visit. Transfer back in the afternoon by car to your hotel. Overnight at Torrita di Siena.

Day n. 4 - Siena and San Gimignano

Today you will reach Siena and San Gimignano with your private English speaking driver . In Siena you will meet the guide who will greet you and accompany you for a pleasant walking tour of the city. You will discover the Magnificent Piazza del Campo where twice a year (2 July and 16 August) an event, that every citizen of Siena looks forward to, takes place: the Palio di Siena. You will learn about the history of the Contrade (ancient Sienese name for neighborhood) and visit the famous Cathedral of Siena, that houses some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. At the end of your guided tour of the city, you will be served a lunch at a well known restaurant, where you will sample a menu carefully selected by the chef comprising several courses made with the freshest traditional ingredients. Next stop will be in San Gimignano, the Medieval village that has been declared a World Heritage Site. Even with its 19th and 20th century renovations, its 13th and 14th century appearance has remained intact and is one of the finest examples of town organization in all of Europe. The main attraction of San Gimignano is the 16 Medieval Towers that still stand today. The oldest is the Torre Rognosa, 51 meters high, while the tallest is the Torre del Podestà, also known as the Torre Grossa (Big Tower), standing 54 meters. In AD 1255 a law was passed that prohibited the building of any tower to superceide the height of the Torre Rognosa (which was the tallest at that time), while the two most important families – Ardinghelli and Salvucci - in order to demonstrate their power, had two towers built just 50 cm under the 54 meter limit. End of visit and transfer back to your hotel in Torrita di Siena.

The Gallery houses a superb collection of priceless art, originating in great part from the Medici family collection, enriched over the centuries by endowments, exchanges and donations, among which an important group of religious works stands out, resulting from the suppression of the monasteries and convents between the XVIII and XIX centuries. Here, you will find the richest collection in the world of works of the Tuscan school, Florentine in particular, among which: Cimabue, Michelangelo, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello. Without parallel is the collection of works by Sandro Botticelli. Free time at your leisure after lunch. Re-join your guide and get ready for a visit at the Accademia Gallery, where the more symbolic work of Michelangelo is housed: Il David, an expression of beauty and physical perfection. It also hosts other sculptures by Michelangelo and a collection of Renaissance paintings: you will admire also the “Il Ratto delle Sabine” by Giambologna (The Rape of the Sabine Women), as well as “La Madonna ed il Bambino” (Madonna and Child) and “la Madonna del Mare” (Madonna of the Sea) by Botticelli. Spend the rest of your day at leisure. Overnight in Florence.

Day n. 8 - Pisa

After your breakfast you will reach one of the most and wonderful cities of Italy by private car and English speaking driver: Pisa. Upon arrival, your private guide will introduce you to the tour starting from the Piazza Dei Miracoli, famous for its Leaning Tower and for the many beautiful architectural structures that distinguish this city. From here you will have time to explore this small city with your guide, you will discover the many aspects of this fascinating town, named after a Greek city, from which it is believed originated the first inhabitants. A town, who thanks to its Tower, has become a symbol in Italy and in the world. It has also fascinated many film directors that have chosen it as a set location for their films. It is so evocative and characteristic, that it has been proposed as one of the seven modern wonders of the world. End of tour and transfer back to the hotel, certainly pleased with this experience. Rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Florence

Day n. 9 - Florence / Artisan Tour

Today you will enjoy an artisan tour together with your private guide. This tour will lead towards a workshop in the heart of Florence where you will admire the masters at work continuing the tradition of the mosaic stones started in the Renaissance. An art gallery with works entirely created by the ruling family with their expert hands and where the youngest (if any) will also experience a laboratory class. The visit will continue to a fabric which produces items in hand decorated paper with techniques inspired by the tradition of Tuscany. Items are produced following methods and procedures in the best tradition of Italian craftsmanship. The marbleized papers are hand decorated using the XVII century technique "a la cuve". The books and the other products are made with the papers produced by the company itself and the best traditional materials. Stationery and card are printed with great care using different techniques, on watermarked papers and card stock of excellent quality. This, in turn, contributed to the renewed taste for items in hand decorated paper. The highly artisan production covers a different variety of items. Owners of the Company were born and raised in Florence and have always been in contact with the artisan world in this city producing items that find inspiration in the Florentine craft tradition, this is the reason why the items produced never go out of style, and keep their long lasting charm through the years. End of the tour and rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Florence
